More than 600 quality courses lie scattered throughout the most beautiful parts of the French countryside, from the beaches of Normandy to Paris, from the vineyards of Bordeaux to Biarritz, to perhaps the very best of all, those located in Provence and along the Riviera, where the pleasures of the good life are as abundant as golf.

Chateau des Vigiers
This Donald Steel design is acclaimed one of France's best new courses of the last 5 years. Meandering through vineyards and plum orchards, it offers championship level golf of the highest order.

Chiberta
Rated as one of the top courses in France, Chiberta, overlooking the Atlantic, offers a unique combination of wooded and links type fairways. Water hazards and an ocean breeze add to the golfing repetoire it requires.

Seignosse
Pine, cork oak, water hazards and sand dunes make a unique combination at this, one of the best courses in France. Scenically beautiful, technically a great challenge, don't miss this very special delight.

Barbaroux
Established as one of Europe's top courses, this is a masterpiece of the Pete and P.B. Dye team. Winding between vineyards and lakes, you are in the heart of Provence, the most delectable of French regions.

Les Baux de Provence
The inclination to forego playing a 9 hole course should certainly be avoided in this case. Wending its way through olive groves and fields of lavender and overlooked by the hilltop fortress village of Les Baux, no other course will ever give you such a feeling of the true Provence as this little beauty. Well worth playing.

Grasse Country Club
Overlooking the Bay of Cannes, more than 1800 feet above sea level, this prestigious country club occupies a former 17th century hunting estate. This fascinating course is sure to please golfers of all levels.

Royal Mougins Country Club
As beautiful as it is rugged, this is a test for the true golfer which can be very rewarding. You will use every club in your bag, exercise every strategy you have learned and may even then, end your round frustrated. A memorable course for the more accomplished golfer and an exhilarating experience.

Esterel
This Robert Trent Jones triumph offers a spectacular range of diversity. Narrow fairways, superb quality greens and a 15th hole that will make the most skilled golfer weak makes this a must play.

Cannes - Mougins Country Club
Located in a forested valley, water is a major hazard, from several lakes to a winding river which cuts this championship course in two. Very challenging.

Grand Avignon
15 minutes away from the famous Pope's Palace and one of the most friendly clubs in these parts, Grand Avignon may also surprise you with a challenge which belies your first impression. Abundant water and unforgiving bunkers are relieved by a delightful experience under the Provencal sun.

La Grande Bastide
One of the best maintained courses in Europe has matured into a very challenging test. Wide fairways make it very forgiving in places, but beware of the strategically placed water hazards which can change your scorecard quickly.

Monte Carlo Country Club
Located high above Monaco, this prestigious championship course offers challenging golf with spectacular views of the Mediteranean and Monte Carlo.

Opio Valbonne
Twisting its way through meadowland and pine forest, each hole offers a different vista of the Provence countryside. One of the oldest private clubs in the region will test those with a more adventurous spirit.

Ste. Maxime
Host to the French Ladies Open and undoubtedly many major tournaments to come, Ste. Maxime is an aesthetic and skill testing delight with spectacular views over the Bay of St. Tropez.

Saint Donat
Be wayward off the tee and this Robert Trent Jones Jr. course will not forgive. The front nine is the big test where boulders and a meandering stream flirt with the fairways. The back nine seems much easier, until you reach the monster close, a very long par 5 with two lakes to negotiate.

Les Bordes, Loire
This is of the most prestigious courses in France, certainly the most picturesque and as great a test of skill as one could wish. Designed by Texan, Robert Von Hagge.

Cheverny, Loire
A thoroughly enjoyable woodland course meanders around a magnificent 100 acre lake. The surrounding countryside, dotted with centuries old chateaux, reminds one why golfing in France is so very special.

Golf De Fontenailles, Paris
Officially rated in the top 25 courses of France, the front 9 are a sheer joy to play but be prepared for a very challenging back 9 where devious water hazards can play havoc.
